The week leading up to the race is taper week, but as an Ironman in training I just couldn't do it. I cycled into work every day which kept the legs and lungs working and got in one swim and one 5km run. It was perfect. Finbarr went on a trip to Azerbaijan and that was it, we were ready to go. I flew into London on the Saturday to register at the expo, meanwhile Finbarr was on a plane for Dublin as his mother had fallen ill, in fact we were not sure he was going to run it till midday on Saturday. Thankfully she had a full recovery and he traveled back that night. (The man is made of tough stuff let me tell you). All in all preparation was no great. Race morning rocked around and we dragged ourselves out of bed and with our support crew of Remie, Trish and Alisher made our way to Greenwich.
